Washington and Boston stay undeated

Washington continued to pound out wins at home knocking off visiting Toronto in game one of three 5-1.

Buzz Capra went 8.2 innings for the win giving up four hits and one run. he got last out relief help from Francisco Rodriquez.

Otis Yewcik took his second loss of the season going 6.2 innings allowing 9 hits and 5 runs.

Washington took a 4-0 lead scoring two runs in the first two innings thanks to four doubles. Shortstop Sebastian Compton Jr (24 years old) doubled to right field, and his father Sebastian Compton Sr., listed as being 27 years old, proving once again that Compton can achieved the unheard of) followed with Washington's second double of the game.

In the second inning put together two more doubles by Steve StVrain and Tony Gwynn to put a third run up and Gwynn scored on a single by Compton Sr., not bad for an old man in just two innings.

Washington went on to win 5-1.

Boston 6 Texas 1

Boston improved to 4-0 and Texas dropped to 2-2 in Boston's home opener.

Dalton Kelly went nine innings for the Boston pitching staff's first complete gasme of the season. lee olson's solo homerun in the 8th inning spoiled the shutout bid for Kelly who gave up one run on six hits walked one and fanned nine.

Jeff Lamp took his first loss 90-1) with a six inning effort giving up four runs on five hits walking three and strikijng out four.

Boston struck quickly with two runs in the first inning. Les hollondswoth doubled with two outs and Paul Funk slugged his first homerun of the season.

The Sox added two more in the 6th inning to go ahead 4-0.

Mike keeton singeld to right foeld with one out. Lamp walked Paul Funk and Larry Grimshaw tripled off the base of rightfield wall.
4-0 Boston.

After Olsen's 8th inning homerun Grimshaw added a two run homerun to his line in the game (triple..homerun 4 RBI) to make the final 6-1 Boston.

Other scores; Seattle bombed Kansas City 12-4 and Los Angeles dropped to 0-4 while New York improved to 3-1 with a 6-4 triumph.
