.021 ERA
.021 ERA
Partly because I'm not superstitious, and partly because the board hasn't had a new message in three weeks, I would like to let you know how things are going this season for Ryan "Mariano" Del Campo.
The lad has given up 1, that's 1! earned run in 43.1 innnings and is pitching to a .021 ERA. That's insane. I had to squint and scratch my head to believe it. Since the League Leader board only recognized pitchers with minimum 1 inning per game played, this will go by the boards as far as long term records, but Ryan would seem to be a lock for his seventh Fireman award, and if the Yankee make the playoffs, which they seem poised to do, and having the rest of the team basically suck, I'd suggest he's a candidate for MVP.

Re: .021 ERA
Steve, you really waste that guy's value to the team. He should be pitching way more innings. At least double what he has now. How can a guy that only pitches an inning every fourth game be the MVP?
Re: .021 ERA
Curious to hear your suggestion. Clearly he's had 20 more save situations in several other years, but he probably throws 100+mph and even with A health, I'd think stretching him would deplete the benefits.
Re: .021 ERA
With C endurance, he could easily pitch 100 innings, in tie game situations picking up double digit wins, as well as save situations grabbing his typical 40 saves. Better to have him miss a save situation here or there, then to have a fully rested superstar pitcher not pitch in crunch time over and over throughout the season.
Re: .021 ERA
Interesting. So you'd move him to Setup/Closer?
Re: .021 ERA
No, you don't need to (those are just labels anyways). You can leave him at closer (only because there are a couple special rules for closers written into the managerial settings. So you just change the settings to get him into tie games in the 7th-9th innings, and don't pinch hit for him until the 9th inning or later. He'll give handfuls of 2 or 3 innings appearances shutting down the other team, and giving your offense the chance to win the game.
Re: .021 ERA
1 earned run all year lol. That's crazy.
Judging by his WHIP, he has gotten very lucky this year. Not that his WHIP is bad, it's similar to other years when he had a bit higher ERA.

Thanks Bill. I'll have more time to think about it after getting swept in the LDS, but he should be around next season for me to er, uh, monkey around with it.WillyD wrote: ↑Sat Sep 01, 2018 4:04 pmNo, you don't need to (those are just labels anyways). Re: .021 ERA
Great year but I would have pitched him until his arm falls off.
