Now I'm asking because I just started playing yesterday and I'm not sure on any given year how valuable 1st round picks are? It's most likely going to be a late first rounder as I'm tied for the best record right now.

Players decline after their age 34 season. You probably want to keep the draft pick unless you can get an impact guy. This is a decent hitter but nothing special. Watch and see how A couple of drafts go before you start trading picks for veterans
