Trade advice in the Nomar Garciaparra League (Private/Speed League)

Post by MDorf »

I need your help with this trade offer. This is a (Private/Speed League)

I have been offered:
Earl Spiezio
2156 Draft Pick Rd 1(NYA)
2155 Draft Pick Rd 1(NYA)

I would give up:
2154 Draft Pick Rd 1(PIT)

Here is a link to my depth chart

Here is a link to the other owner's depth chart

And here is a link to my league's standings

Thanks for the help,

It is a tempting offer. I think Wheeler is the clear #1, but he isn't the most awesome #1 pick ever. The NY pick is currently 3-5 and should be pretty high again next year. I just took over the team and the minors is barren, but I have 2 firsts and 5 seconds in this draft.

Tough. I think Wheeler is a very good #1 pick. I'd be happy to see him. But, if NYA projects to be a bottom-five team in the league again next year, then it's a very good offer. If a variable development league, I would probably accept. If not, I'm not sure--I lean toward accepting, trusting your projection that the NYA future picks will remain very high.

about 84/89 +/- 2, assuming normal curve. He should be very good, but still below average (or at least below what you hope for) for the top overall pick. That being said, there is a large dropoff between him and #2. I'm leaning towards no for that reason. Bird in the hand and all that. The variable development does add another layer, though.

If you are correct in your projections, and I think his odds are greater to be + rather than -, that's an A/A SP with B+ to A- endurance.

You have have greater expectations out of the #1 pick than I do.

You're probably right. I think I'll keep the pick. Thanks.
