Playoffs!

Post by ttreese »

let the games begin....

Congrats to all Playoff teams. Both Washington and New York had impressive regular seasons. Congrats to both winning over 110 games in the regular season. That's not an easy feat. Congrats to Milwaukee making it back to the post season in the new merged league.

Yes two upsets based on full season standings. Giants were the bigger upset in my opinion as the Giants posted a 15-6 record against Milwaukee in the regular season but MIL got the better in the post season winning the series 4-1. Huge upset and congrats to Milwaukee for pulling it off...

In the AL; Washington won 20 more games than Texas but head-to-head they split 24 games evenly 12-12 with each team going 8-4 at home during the regular season. In the post season things started off the same. Each team won their games at home. Washington went up 2-0 at home then Texas won all three at their house taking series lead 3-2. The "upset" / series clincher was game 6; Texas on road at Washington. Two aces on the mound each only gave up one run through 6 and 8 innings. Wranglers got to Washington RP Tony Welsh in the 9th inning. With one out, Don Carson reached on a 2-base throwing error by Don Koch. Dembe Solomon then grounded out. With 2 out in the top of the ninth; C Mitch Wright hits a 2 run home run to take the lead on the road. Wranglers RP Baker Gruene got the series clinching save and some retribution after blowing a save earlier in the series.

Goes to show how tight these games, series, and playoff teams are. Series could have gone either way.

Congrats to both Washington and New York on great seasons.

Good luck to Milwaukee in the World Series. Let's do it...

No doubt about it. The playoffs were very disappointing for my team, and I'm sure very disappointing for Washington as well. I really thought the WS was going to be a showdown between the two teams with the best records by far, but instead it was a no show for both...Sad!!! But that's the way it goes sometimes.
With that said, congrats to Milwaukee and Texas for making it to the WS, and congrats once again to Texas for winning it all, back to back!
Good luck to all in '84.
