It was a strange season of huge ups and downs for Oakland. Started out 6-12 and was already getting trade offers in April that hinted I needed to start a rebuild. But I didn't think my team was all that bad. By the end of April we got back to .500 and spent most of May staying there. On May 24 we were 24-24 and then went on a 10 game winning streak, followed immediately by a 7 game losing streak. With some decent play we got as good as 44-37 on June 30, but then dropped back down to 50-49 just three weeks later.

To start August we went on a 16-2 tear, but then countered it with a 2-8 whimper. So on September we were 73-63. We went 5-2, and then won our last 19 games. This ending is also significant because we were fighting for the Wild Card with Tampa Bay. They beat us in the regular season 9 out of 12 times, so to win the wild card we'd have to not tie them but finish ahead of them.

On September 3 they had a 3 game lead, which really meant a 4 game lead. We then won 5 in a row and on September 14 we finally were even with Tampa Bay. And we kept on winning. Over the next 6 games, Tampa went 5-1, but we went 6-0. We were a game ahead. And then Tampa Bay went 1-8! But it would not have mattered. Because went 9-0 during that time.

We then lost in the 1st round of the playoffs, 0 games to 4.

When you're hot you're hot. When you're not you're not you're not.
