World Series Championship!

Post by wcl » Sun Nov 10, 2019 6:35 pm

In the twenty-four team Speaker Wilson League...the Montreal Expos have won their third consecutive World Series championship...1997, 1998 and 1999. I don't think that happens very often. Does anyone know of any similar occurrences in other leagues of this size? It must be rare even at the Trial League level. I would appreciate any information anyone can provide. Thanks.

Congrats on the 3 year run!

I imagine it doesn't happen that often in 24 team leagues, as the extra round of playoffs makes it tougher to do. I've seen it happen a few times though in my 24 team leagues. I recently pulled off 4 in a row in the 24 team Vin Scully League. The best I've done in any league is 5 in a row many years ago in the now defunct Nellie Fox League, and again more recently in the Nettles Ruth League.

However the best I've seen is 7 titles in a row! That was done in the Frank Robinson League, which is a wheel draft league, by one of the best owners in SimD history, phen0m. Im not sure if that's the best, I remember seeing posts about some other great runs.

The Chicago Scotties of the Tim Raines League won 12 x in 16 seasons, but have won 1 in the last 69 years.

Montreal Screaming Mounties - owned by MDorf - won the World Series 4 out of 5 years (5 out of 7 overall) in the 24 team Satchel Paige League, which is a pretty remarkable run, if you ask me.

I have a team in the Keller Stargell league(St. Louis Browns). They won 3 in a row in a 24 man league and 5 out of 6. I think the most impressive stat is that they have made the playoffs 28 seasons in a row. It's a feat I have never done before. During that run they have 9 championships and a winning % of .710 during that run. It's a lot easier to make the playoffs in a 24 man league, but it is harder to win the whole thing. There is a give and take there because it allows for runs like this, but it's much harder to dominate and win multiple rings. I know Swordeman had like a run well over 50 years in a row of making the playoffs. There is no way I can match that. I never thought I would even get past a 20 year run let alone more than likely over 30 years.
