Hall of Fame`

Post by frankum » Thu Jun 25, 2020 4:03 pm

In order to keep the Hall of Fame rolling more actively, I came across the HoF automatic requirements for the Thurman Munson League. I believe we should adopt these, they're quite strong. What does everyone think?

The following benchmarks will be used for automatic enshrinement:

a. MVP >= 4 seasons
b. Hits >= 3,000
c. 200+ hits >=5
d. Hits leader >=5 seasons
e. Hits >= 2,500 combined with a batting average over .300
f. Home runs >= 500
g. Home runs >= 400 combined with rbi total >= 1,400
h. Home run leader >= 5 seasons
i. Home runs >= 40 (minimum 8 seasons)
j. RBI >= 1,500
k. 100+ rbi seasons >= 8 seasons
l. RBI leader >= 5 seasons
m. Batting average >= .320 (minimum 5,000 at bats)
n. .300 average >= 8 seasons
o. Batting leader >= 5 seasons
p. Runs >= 1,500
q. 100 Runs >= 8 seasons
r. Runs leader >= 5 seasons
s. Steals >= 600
t. 50 Steals >= 8 seasons
u. Steals leader >= 5 seasons
v. CY Young = 4 seasons
w. Wins >=300
x. Wins leader >= 3 seasons
y. 20 win seasons >=5
z. Era <= 3.00 (minimum 1,500 innings)
aa. Era leader >= 4 seasons (minimum 1,500 innings)
bb. Era <= 3.00 (minimum 8 seasons of minimum 150 innings)
cc. Saves >= 400
dd. Saves leader >= 5 seasons
ee. Saves >= 40 (minimum 8 seasons)
ff. Saves % >= 90% (Minimum 300 saves)

They are pretty strong although in the TML some I would say some players sneak in that maybe shouldnt be there.
But all in all it is a good benchmark in most instances.

I could totally see that. I think I would prefer that we have a couple guys get in who don’t deserve it, versus having so much work for ballmark to stay on top of it.

We might be able to use every third or fourth of these metrics because Awards and bolded type for "led the league" (as in RBI leader or HR leader below) were not available for the first many decades of play in SimD. They are a - relatively - recent innovation.

But it's for sure a decent guideline to use for what is a Herculean and monumental task. Combing through nearly 250 years of player statistics to find the Hall-worthy ones is not something easily done.

I own too many teams (7 - used to be 8 not counting Beta League) and still deal with a 2-hour commute. I have recently given up one team, but to confound that, the 24-Team Beta League (in which I manage four teams - it's where Chris tests out new code) recently started back up again after an 8-month hiatus.

And to confound THAT, I have cataract surgery on the next two Tuesdays.

So I'm trying to say if someone else would like to be HOF Commissioner, the job is yours.

Pass it off to me, I will take it.

Groovy!

I think you can switch that out yourself. It's on the Commissioner Menu under "Hall of Fame Settings."
