This prompted me to do some searching, and the first category I looked at (Hits) revealed something very odd.

None of my top 4 career hit guys ever had a single 200-hit season. I've had 78 of those seasons, but apparently those guys must have spent a lot of their careers elsewhere.

What I've realized is that career leaders usually aren't the best players, just those that play with you the longest. Dutch Eibel will end up holding every STL career record when he's done. I've had far better players (Dave Valdez, Gorman Saucier) but Dutch just happens to be the guy that broke into the league with STL and will retire with STL.

Exactly. I need a category for best BKN-CLE combined careers, because we traded a few HOFers back and forth through the years.

Updated with the departure of some long time STL studs. Defying all odds, two second rounders made the biggest impression on the STL leader boards when they left. Colby Marshall, the 18th overall pick in the draft is second in hits and first in runs scored. On the pitching side, Ray Montanez, the 15th overall pick leaves in third place in franchise wins and strikeouts. If we would have kept going for one more season, he likely would be leading both those categories.

Something special about having a second round pick go on to do big things. It just makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Both of those guys still have a bunch of seasons left too. Should be fun to see how they do.

Been a long time since STL had anyone worthwhile on their team. Even though this team is in its infancy of its competitive window, we still had TWO single season records set already.

Heinie Thomas set the single season home run record with 42 in 2182

Charlie Steenstra set the single season RP ERA record with 1.75 in 2183
