After a significant drop at the plate last season questions arose about Murphy's ability to stay an everyday player at 36. So far out of the gate he has a an OPS of 1.108 and has hit 6 HR's in less then 10% of the season (he hit all of 23 last season after being a perennial 30-40 HR guy). While we do not think he will continue this rate we will ride the wave while it lasts. Ironically his defense has been subpar even with A/B fielding ratings and last season a robust +19 in the field. Currently he sits at -4.
