Hall of Fame

Post by WillyD »

Besides myself, we have 3 other owners that have stated they'll be consistent participants in the HOF process. This owners are:

Pecker
2ndCos
Soggy

If anyone else is interested in helping keeping our HOF up to date, please respond in this thread. It would be great if we could get at least 9 owners.

It used to be a goal of mine to get my players into the HOF, but it has been so long since it was a thing, that I have lost track of my past deserving candidates. It would be nice to get it going again.

Only 1 reply... Disappointing, but enough get going. With 5 owners we can start electing players to the Hall with a 4 out of 5 vote. We'll go with at least a two thirds majority to get elected into the Hall.

The first number is the amount of yes votes needed, the 2nd would be the total number of votes cast.

He was 6 games from being listed as a 2nd baseman. 3 MVPs and 3 batting titles too. I'd vote yes.

What kind of weird criteria is that Soggy?

He hit .305 for his career which is very good.
Not every player in the Hall of Fame for hitters have to be a power hitter. If that were true then we would have to get rid of the lead off type guys and the guys that get hits, produce runs, and steal bases, but don't hit Home runs.

If we use the criteria that you are using then honestly we will probably have no one getting into the hall going forward. I am cool with you voting no, but I don't understand the logic. There are different times, different era's involved. Not to mention the infamous 1950's skew that created monster numbers during the first 20 or so years of sim.

He's not an automatic by no means, but I think his post season history, his MVPS and other stats really take him over the edge. I don't want a bunch of chumps in the hall either, but I want to understand your logic in the 9 stats rankings. What about all stars, MVPS, or Gold Gloves? What about championships because we all know that players with championships have a greater chance of making the hall in real life.

For God sakes Ted Simmons just made the Hall of Fame. I am a huge Cardinals fan, but Ted Simmons? Really?

Sim D is a MLB simulation. I pulled the stats for all MLB HOF'ers by position. The stats represent the average for that position. It was close, but your nominee did not cut it based on my criteria. I do not consider awards (awards are based on stats) or post season wins (post season is a team accomplishment)
That being said, I really could give 2 sh*ts what you think is weird or not... You can use your methodology & I will use mine. Happy New Year!

Also... as a side note. There are 331 members of MLB HOF. There have been 15,213 people who have played MLB. That equates to 2.2% of players making it to the HOF.

I will participate in the voting.

As to the current candidate, I would vote yes. I see very few current members of our Hall who have a higher lifetime batting average.
