Ed Hooks retirement - HOF Credentials

Post by FourSixThree »

Never let it be said that the Kodkod won't cripple their chances at winning to let a great player chase meaningless milestones!

http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id ... imps=stats

After a great career, Kodkod stalwart Ed Hooks has been optioned but not before collecting:

3015 hits
507 doubles
309 HR
1349 RBI
1313 walks
385 SB

He did play a ton of games and got caught stealing 300 times but he was an All Star starter five times and won three Gold Gloves.
Thanks Ed, you've earned your rocking chair. Too bad so little of your greatness rubbed off on the rest of the underperforming clowns I have collected.
LOL

Based of one real world HOF standards test (found here: https://www.baseball-reference.com/abou ... sary.shtml) he deserves to be in the HOF. Check my math, but I calculate Ed Hooks currently has 57 points, where 50 is the average HOF member and the max is 100.

Batting Statistics
One point for each 150 hits above 1500, limit 10. * Hooks: 10
One point for each .005 of batting average above .275, limit 9 * Hooks: 1
One point for batting over .300 * Hooks: 0
One point for each 100 runs over 900, limit 8. * Hooks: 6
One point for scoring more than .500 runs per game. Hooks: 0
One point for scoring more than .644 runs per game. Hooks: 0
One point for each 100 rbi's over 800, limit 8. * Hooks: 5
One point for driving in more than .500 runs per game. * Hooks: 0
One point for driving in more than .600 runs per game. * Hooks: 0
One point for each .025 of slugging percentage above .300, limit 10 * Hooks: 5
One point for each .010 of on-base percentage above .300, limit 10 * Hooks: 6
One point for each 200 home runs. * Hooks: 1
One point if home runs are more than 10% of hits. * Hooks: 1
One point if home runs are more than 20% of hits. * Hooks: 0
One point for each 200 extra base hits over 300, limit 5. * Hooks: 2
One point for each 200 walks over 300, limit 5. * Hooks: 5
One point for each 100 stolen bases, limit 5. * Hooks: 3
James's version: Defensive value: 20 points for catcher, 16 - shortstop, 14 - second base, 13 - third base, 12 - center fielder, 6 - right fielder, 3 - left fielder, 1 - first baseman, 0 - designated hitter * Hooks: 12

Very interesting statistical interpretation method to establish an objective measure of HOF legitimacy - thanks for sharing!

One of the many reasons I enjoy this game is the pet players we collect along the way. My current pet player is Tommy Demery.

Demery's well past his prime, but still adds value as a veteran presence off the bench. I'm not sure that I'll be able to milk 3000 hits out of him, but it'll be fun trying.

Congratulations to Ed Hooks on a great career!

HOF case for Tommy Demery (www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12636632) is pretty good. I calculate 52 points where the average HOF member has 50. I should make an excel file that does this automatically.

Batting Statistics
One point for each 150 hits above 1500, limit 10. * Demery: 8
One point for each .005 of batting average above .275, limit 9 * Demery: 0
One point for batting over .300 * Demery: 0
One point for each 100 runs over 900, limit 8. * Demery: 6
One point for scoring more than .500 runs per game. * Demery: 1
One point for scoring more than .644 runs per game. * Demery: 0
One point for each 100 rbi's over 800, limit 8. * Demery: 2
One point for driving in more than .500 runs per game. * Demery: 0
One point for driving in more than .600 runs per game. * Demery: 0
One point for each .025 of slugging percentage above .300, limit 10 * Demery: 4
One point for each .010 of on-base percentage above .300, limit 10 * Demery: 6
One point for each 200 home runs. * Demery: 0
One point if home runs are more than 10% of hits. * Demery: 0
One point if home runs are more than 20% of hits. * Demery: 0
One point for each 200 extra base hits over 300, limit 5. * Demery: 2
One point for each 200 walks over 300, limit 5. * Demery: 4
One point for each 100 stolen bases, limit 5. * Demery: 3
James's version: Defensive value: 20 points for catcher, 16 - shortstop, 14 - second base, 13 - third base, 12 - center fielder, 6 - right fielder, 3 - left fielder, 1 - first baseman, 0 - designated hitter * Demery: 16

It's funny - these aren't even real players (and in fact are fairly flawed statistical representations of players!) but I seem to get attached to them in ways I never got attached to even the real players I managed. My Sim Dynasty history is full of players that should have been traded or dropped that I held onto because they were closing on some milestone or just because I had grown fond of them!
