Chicago loses two of three in Baltimore

Chicago dropped two of three games in Baltimore getting shutout 2-0 on six hits in game one by John Lary (4-3) qame two relievers.

Leo Roberts hit his first of the season off Chicago starter and loser Jimmy Dillheoffer. Dillhoeffer gave up two runs on five hits.

Baltimore took game two 4-1. Gresy Harkness got the win. Les Morley a save (3rd).

After being held to one run on six hits over eighteen innings the Sox batters finally had some success in game three scoring seven runs.

Billy Faber hit a three run homerun in the third inning to put Baltimore ahead 3-0.

Chicago hitters finally came alive in the seventh but a base running mistake cost them the tying run. Otto Todd did give up two runs in the inning. Hambright reached on an error by Todd with one out. Gary Sechrist singled to center field sending Hambright to third base. Sechrist was picked off and thrown out stealing with pinch hitter Chip Barbieri at bat. Barbieri then hit a two run home run instead of a three run shot that left Chicago still trailing by one run; 3-2.

The 8th was a five run inning for the Sox thanks to two homeruns. John LaPointe hit a grand slam and Chip Barbieri hit his second of the game and fourth of the season to make it 7-3.

A two run homerun by Baltimore's Butch Moss (2nd) made the final score 8-5.

First place Cleveland bombed Boston 10-4 dealing the Hammers their seventh straight loss and dropping them into the celler.

Kansas City emerged for the depths of last place with a 9-2 whipping of Detroit and is playing some good baseball at this time.

Baltimore 7 Washington 2.

Washington dropped a game behind Cleveland.
