Baltimore RP Jeff Mercker finally blew a save last night, in a loss to Detroit. As he had done 38 times this season, he came in to start the ninth; he got two quick outs, but then hit the Diamonds' Jim Diaz and gave up a two-run homer to Russ Ford. Prior to that, he had inexplicably converted every save.

Sorry, man.

Russ Ford, however, is having a bit of a breakout year.
