Well, that just figures.

The Natty Bohs, despite having lost éminence grise Kyle Lyden for a month-and-a-half in the middle of the pennant race, somehow manage to stay close enough to second-place KC to stay alive. Going into the last series of the season, they will need a sweep to force game 163, but even a slim ray of hope is better than none.

In game 159, SS Mike Ross is injured and out for the season.

Congrats, KC.

And, just to break the hearts of their simulated fans, the Natty Bohs go into game 162 one game behind, and are tied with KC at 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth, when this happens:

Inning: 9 Kansas City
Jason Thompson pitching.
Sammy Kimsey is pinch hitting for Eric Hanford. Pinch hitting for the relief pitcher because it is in or after the 7 inning.
Sammy Kimsey hits a home run.

"That Thompson was a hell of a pickup!" yelled the drunken codebits in the simulated bleachers...
