Finally

After 24 straight losses the awful Detroit Crankshafts eek out a 4-3 victory. I would like to say this will never happen again, but with this team I have my doubts.

The grammarian in me suspects you meant to say 'eke' but then again 'eek' probably describes the feelings of the virtual fan base at this point of the season! :)
