A;s 3 Tampa 2

Larry Barrett went eight innings allowed eight hits and two runs walked two and struck out seven. Barrett is now 3-1 for the season with a 2.97 ERA in 30.1 innings pitched.

Kansas City scored three runs on three hits and a walk off Tampa starter Jeff Fick in the bottom of the first inning. Lead-off batter Steve Blue tripled, the second triple of the season for Blue. Fick walked Mike Jackson. John Mathews singled in Blue. 1-0 Kansas City. McCall bounced to second; one out but both runners advanced. Jackson scored on an ground out to second by Tommy Schaumacher and and Reed Hopkins single home the third run.

In the top of the 2nd inning Bobby Carrasco hit a two-out triple and Gaylen Rachunok broke up the shutout with a single; 3-1 Kansas City

Preston Baker hit a solo homerun in the top of the 6th for Tampa. 3-2 KC.

There was no more scoring despite the fact that Kansas City left the bases loaded in the 6th and 7th innings.

Julio Canate picked up the save, his first.

Oakland 6 Washington 4

Washington fell to 10-5 one game behind Los Angeles and tied with Kansas City for second place.

Brett Swanigan (1-0) pitched one inning in relief for the win.

A three run 4th inning for Washington put the Wimps in the driver's seat 3-2 and a add on run in the 5th made it 4-2. However things turned in the 7th inning when a pair of doubles by Ross McMahon and Miguel and a run scoring single by Tiny Roberts narrowed the score to 4-2.

Oakland tied the game 4-4 in the eighth. Gary Kellefer, Harrison Puhl putting runners on first and third. Kellefer scored on a error by third baseman Joe Johnson Kevin Werth drove in Puhl with a single to right.

Chandler Webb pitched the 9th for his 3rd save.

LA 8 Boston 5

First place Los Angeles broke their three game losing streak and Boston's four game winning streak came to an end.

Tubby Johnson, the league's leading hitter was four for five, scored four runs on two homeruns and three singles.

Link Davis homered for Boston.

Wayne Dugey got the win (2-0) 7 IP 10H 5R/5ER 3BB/8 SO.

Jon Mathewson pitched two innings for the save.
