Oakland 8 Toronto 4

Ben Scalzi (2-0) went four innings in relief surrendering just one hit with three strikeouts in relief of starter Luis Barranca knocked out of the game in the fourth inning with one out. Barranca allowed four runs on eight hit one walk struck out two. Fabian Moore went the final one and one third innings in the Oakland win.

Oakland scored three times in the 2nd inning off on RBI singles by the pitcher, Barranca, second baseman Manuel Perez and shortstop Tiny Roberts. (3-0 Oakland)

Toronto erupted for four runs and a 4-3 lead in the 2nd. on run scoring hits by Lance Mullin who had a RBI double. Pitcher Julio Kirkland had a RBI ground out and Huck Moore lined a run scoring single to left field.

4-3 Toronto.

Oakland tied the game in the 4th inning on Dave Cooper's RBI double.

Four run 4th inning by Toronto made it 8-4. Harrison Puhl singled in a run off Kirkland. Mike Butler hit a three run homerun off his reliever George Grubb.

Final 8-4 Oakland.


Tampa Bay 4 Los Angeles 3

(11 innings)

A first inning homerun by Pete Dawson put Tampa Bay ahead 2-0. Preston Becker added a run scoring single to make it 3-0

Los Angeles chipped away at that lead. A sacrifice fly hit by pitcher Red Jackson made it 3-1.

Solo homerun by Greg Garner (2nd) cut the lead to 3-2.

Bret Southworth's solo homerun tied it in the 6th.

In the 11th inning Pete Dawson hit his second round tripper of the game to win it.


Minnesota 5 Washington 0

Molly Davis (2-3) went nine shutout innings limiting Washington to just four hits walked two and struck out three.

Jack Ozmer had a two run double off John Colovito and Davis added a run scoring single in the 2nd inning.


Kansas City 10 Boston Red Bulls 2

After dropping the series opener Kansas City took the next two games to win the series two games to one and extended their lead in the American League to a season high two games over Washington and Los Angeles.

The A's scored ten runs on twelve hits as their hitters collectively awakened from a lineup wide slump.

The complete game was Co,eman's second of the season and the team's third.

The A's got things going off Todd Elston in the 2nd inning. Bill McCall singled and stole second. Mike Bassett singled to right field. McCall scored. Tom Schaumacher singled to left field. Reed Hopkins singled to right field driving in Bassett. Chris Riley's grounder to short drove in Schaumacher.

(3-0 KC)

In the 3rd inning an RBI double by Mathews and a run scoring single by Mike Bassett made it 5-0.

Pedro Torrez broke up Coleman shutout in the 3rd with a solo homer. (5-1)

Kansas City blew the game open in the 8th and 9th inning scoring five times.

Mike Jackson doubled to right field off Rich Cooper finishing Copper for Benito Madrid. Madrid gave up a run scoring single by Elmer Riggan,

Mike Jackson hit a grand slam homerun in the 9th. It was the fourth grand slam hit by Kansas City this season . McCall has the other three.

Jose Macado RBI double in the bottom of the 2nd inning made it 3-1.

Kansas City scored a run in the top of the 3rd. Joe Knoor walked and stole second. Mathews timely double scored him. (4-1 KC)
