Post by larrysiegfried20 »

The Angels won the series two games to one in Boston and all three games drew very bell. 41,900 Was the announced total attendance in game three. 44,000 came to see game one and 46,000 paid to see game two. Sox Park has a capacity of just over 47,000 if you squeeze in tightly and hold your breath.

Total attendance for the series was 131,900 for all three games.

It is very early in the season to worry all that much about the standing but Anaheim is tied with the Los Angeles Conquistadors for first place with 6-3 records. Texas, Washington and Boston trail the two co-leaders by one game (5-4 ) and Oakland is two back at 4-5.

The first score in game three came in the third inning off Howie Ashley (Losing Pitcher 1-1 - 7IP 8H 3R/3ER 3BB/9SO). Ashley issued a base on balls to the first batter, Frank Boyle. Pitcher Ted Wallace' bunt was down the third base where it was fielded by third baseman Jesse Wengert who throw to second baseman Charlie Armbruster retired the pitcher. Boyle advanced to second. Ashley still had control problems walking his second man, Sam Cullop. Gordy Norman, batting .474 and stealing playing time from Tim Smith, the incumbent at second base, singled past second baseman Charlie Armbruster to drive in Boyle. Cullop was thrown out at third base by right fielder Ab Partee. Jim Rogalski popped out to shortstop to end the inning.

1-0 Boston.

In the bottom of the fourth inning Boston tied the game 1-1 on a double by Charlie Krakauskas and a single by Jake Leister.

1-1.

In the seven inning Anaheim took a 3-1 lead. Chcuk Hamill walked. Pinch hitter Tim Smith bunted for a base hit and Boyle singled in Smith.

In the eighth Anaheim added one run to their lead to go up 4-2.

Jim Rogalski hit a solo homerun, his 2nd, off Emmett Lanning (the first he has allowed).

In the eighth Boston got that run back on a walk to Krakaukus and a double by pinch hitter Bill Ellis off Bob Miller.

Chick Davidson replaced Miller and got the final two final outs of the innings ans then turned things over to the two shut down relievers, Al Fennergan and Bob Pavlas. Pavlas piicked up his fourth save of the season.
