How can a A+ contact hitter be so bad?

Post by scorpiorc »

How can a guy who is A+ contact against both L & R have such a crappy batting average? At least he draws walks.

It is speed, he doesn't have elite speed. He puts the ball in play and can't beat out IF singles.

Then the next question is where is he in his grades? A+/B+ is he 100/75 or 92/68. If he is the low side of his grades he is more like an A/B.

Then it is also probably a little bad luck this year, he should probably be a .275-.280 hitter in this league, although the NL has some really dominant Pitchers which you face.

For your rebuttal hear is an A+/A guy with B speed, now hearing A+/A you think he would be a star, but his best year has been a .297 average. His best season vsR which is the A+/A skill the average was only .302. For batting average, speed is more important than I think people give it credit.

His Speed is limiting him. Ratman put it perfectly.
