Boston 9 Toronto 2

Boston is 27-22 having won just four of its last ten but are coming off a 9-2 victory in game one of three at home against Toronto. Boston is 6-1 against Toronto this season going into game two.

Boston starting pitcher Chauncey Murray went the distance limiting Toronto to two runs on eleven hits. Murray walked two and struck out one.

Murray improve to 3-6 and lowered his ERA to 3.87. Murray's complete game effort was his fourth of the season, tying him for the league lead with Seattle's Charlie Cruz.

The BeanEaters scored nine runs on thirteen hits and left five men on base.

Boston erupted for four runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Lead off batter Greg Cruz hit his eighth homerun off Toronto starting pitcher Tex Paddock. Alex Flaherty followed with a single to right field. Flaherty advanced to second on a ground out by Bryan Perez. Flaherty scored on a double by Albie Crowell. Crowell scored on a triple by right fielder Cliff Wise. Wise scored on a sacrifice fly by Mark Indermill to put Boston up 4-0.

Wise, who has won himself a starting spot at a corner outfield spot because of his hot bat hit his first homerun with Bryan Perez aboard in the third inning. 6-0 Boston.

Tom Burns replaced Paddock on the mound after Wise' homerun.

Two innings later Wise hit his second of the game and season off Burns. Boston added a second run in that inning. Mark Skowron walked two outs later, stole second ase and scored on a single by catcher Steve Allanson to make it 8-0.

Murray contributed to the offense with a run scoring double in the bottom of the eight.

A tiring but determined Murray gave up two runs on a walk and two hits in the ninth.
