Kansas City Komets 3 Seattle Sasquatch 1

Kansas City took this series 2-1 over Seattle reducing Seattle's first place lead over Boston to one game. Kansas City is in third place (27-21) three games off the pace.

Kansas City started rookie Bob Holliday (0-2 3.60 ERA) for the third time and the rookie, acquired from Boston on August 1st, called up on August 10th, had his best start impressing his team by going seven inning allowing seven hits and just one run did not allow a walk and struck out six.

Holliday was acquired from Boston for back up catcher Steve Allanson. A great trade for Kansas City!

Dutch Chase hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the second inning off Holliday. It was Chase's third of the season, the fourth allowed in 15 innings by Holliday.

A single by Seattle starting pitcher Bill Kennedy and a double off the bat of All Star Harry Foley tied the game 1-1in the5th inning.

Tom Bohler took over for the final two innings.

Boehler gave up no runs on two hits with one strikeout. and got the win when Kansas City scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a 1-1 tie.

Grant Small doubled off Seattle starting pitcher Bill Kennedy, finishing his day. Bull Russell came in and gave up a run scoring single to Ted Jordan.

Jordan stole second and scored on a single by Dutch Chase to make the final score 3-1 Kansas City.

BOSTON 11 TORONTO 6

Blaze O'Connell is now 1-1 with a 3.15 ERA in three games with Boston, 2-2 with a 4.05 ERA after being acquired from the Kansas City Komets with third baseman Mark Skowron for minor league pitchers Keith Sanders and John Hernandez and catcher John Hill.

Skowron has become the starting third baseman for Boston batting .338 with 9 runs batted in 19 games for Boston and .255 with 25 RBI in 32 games combined.

O'Connell went seven innings gave up six runs on eight hits walked seven and struck out five.

''O'Connell has pitched with some big leads in his starts so a veteran pitcher like him will make the opposition put the ball in play in games like that which drives u some of his numbers, but the wa;lk totals have been a concern so far.'' said the Boston manager after the game.

Left hander Bill Cruthers pitched a scoreless 8th inning and Walter (Doc) Rose finished the game for Boston but complained of stiffness in his elbow and by the end of the night had been place on the disabled list

Boston put the game on ice in their first at bat when the eploded for six runs off Noodles Sanchez in the first inning. Alex Flaherty drove in one run with a single, Buddy Kracher hit a two run homerun, his fourth of the season and Brayan Perez, four for four the game his his seventh with two runners on.

A tewo run homerun by Rick Helton trimmed the lead to 6-2 Boston.

Boston quickly stretched the lead out to 10-2 with four runs in the fourth inning.Singled by Cliff Wise, Bryan Perez and Blaze O'Connell produced the first run.

Tom Burns replace Sanchez on the mound for Toronto.

Mark Skowron greeted him with a run scoring double scoring Perez and O'Connell and Skowron scored on a single by Greg Cruz.

Toronto did not give up and managed to cut the lead to 10-4 in the 5th inning on a two run double by Dan Adams and then two more made it 10-6 in the 8th on a two run homerun by catcher Art Heimach (6th).

Boston made the final score 11-6 when Bryan Perez doubled off Art Butler to start the eighth and pinch hitter Bob Ritterman singled.
