Boston is now 39-25 and owns a four game lead over hard charging Kansas City and slumping Seattle. Kansas City, a team built on speed and leads the league in stolen bases with 116 have won seven of their last ten games. Seattle has stumbled a bit recently winning only four of their last ten games.

Boston pitching has been superb his season. The BeanEaters team ERA is a league best 3.31. Thirty-six year old right hander Blaze O'Connell, the winning pitcher in this contest (3-1) went seven and two thirds innings. O'Connell allowed no runs on six hits struck out nine and walked only one.

Boston starter Henry Edwards allowed the game's first run in the bottom of the fourth inning when Alex Flaherty hit his tenth homerun of the season with one out and no one on base off Henry Edwards, Edwards has allowed10 homers in 76 innings.

Edwards took the loss (4-1) eight innings allowed two runs on eight hits walked two and fanned seven.

The BeanEaters added a second run in the sixth inning on singles by Bryan Perry, Jose Nocisia and Mark Indermill.

Larry Hriniak picked up a hard earned save (15th) in the ninth inning. Hriniak retired the first two batters routinely, then loaded the bases on in infield single off his glove, a double by Jeffrey Miller and a walk to Arguimedes Dowd. The drama came to an end when George Diaz grounded out to Mark Indermill at first base.
