Third place Boston has won three srtaight in Kid Gleason League

The Red Hawks of Boston are hanging in the AL pennant race with a 37-30 (.552) record one game behind second place Oakland after Oakland lost game one of their series with Detroit.

Boston has the league's leading hitter, Cotton Dorsett batting .371, the team is hitting .258 overall, Shortstop Ted Schrepner (.344) has become a star at his position and three very good starting pitchers, Art Brower (8-7 2.97), Jack Schmandt (6-2 276) and Chuck Hottman (5-2 3.63 have been the nucleus of the team. It has been weaknesses in the bullpen that has held the Red hawks back primarily.

Twenty eight year old right hander Rudy Moyer (4-8 7.260 had his been game of the season both on the mound and at the plate pitching the Red Hawks to their third straight win. Moyer went seven innings for Boston, was charged with all five Minnesota runs and eleven of the thirteen Minnesota hits. Jack Wagner and Bill Umpbarger worked the final two scoreless inning.

Boston scored six runs in the first inning to blow the game open early on RBI singles by Calvin Scarce and Ted Schrepner and a two run single by Button Dorsett and a two run double by catcher Alfonse Adams.

Boston knocked out Minnesota starter John Juden in the first inning pummeling him for six runs on five hits. Juden fell to 1-9 on the season. Wilton Meares and Jack Rico each had three hits in the losing effort for Minnesota.

Meares hit his 7th homerun with one on in the eight inning.
