The Mariners continued their unbeaten streak advancing it to seven, four games behind first place Kansas City tied Washington and Detroit. Seattle once again went to a first time starter on the season; Sam Gray.

Gray went eight and one third innings for his first win of the season. He gave up ten hits, six runs (five earned) walked four and struck out four. Doug Quinby allowed two runs (both charged to Gray) on one hit in the ninth but picked up his 5th save.

Minnesota starter Ricky Wall went only one and a third innings before exiting after allowing seven hits and seven runs including two homeruns by Seattle catcher Buck Velazguez.

Velazquaz hit a two run homer in the four run first and a three run shot in the three run second inning. Drew Young added a two run homerun in the seventh, his first of the season.

Kansas City 2 Boston 1

Bobby Shelton (7-0) kept his record unblemished going eight innings (10 hits 1 run 1 walk and an impressive thirteen strikeouts. Geroge Fernandez gave Sheldon the ninth inning off to pick up his 14th save.

Danny Pena who pitched well (8 innings 8 hits 2 runs 1 walk and 10 strikeouts) but still remained winless dropping to 0-7.

A fourth inning single by Walt Tomney scored George Richmond (triple) and Tomney then scored on a wild pitch by Pena.

Boston scored its only run in the5th inning Clarence Wood led off with a single and scored on Bernie Hudson's two out hit.

Detroit 4 Washington 0

Horace Glazner (2-4) went all nine innings limiting Washington to just four hits walked three struck out nine.

Don Marquez had a homerun in the 4th with Mark Powell on base (infield single).

Powell touched them all in the 7th when he homered.

Chicago 11 Baltimore 5

Chicago scored 11 runs on 14 hits. Thirteen of the hits were singles with only Eric Brauns two run 4th inning double going for extra bases.

Mendy Gordon (3-2) got the win.
