American League Batting leaders;

Seattle's Jim Naymick now leads the American League in batting at .373 and long time leader Earl Coulson, KC, has dropped to .352. Bernie Godwin (Boston) is now third at .351.

Coulson is tied with 13 homeruns with Mickey Godwin (Bal) and Coulson leads in runs batted in (38) but Naymick is closing in on him there to with 36.

Baltimore took two of three from front running Kansas City to put more pressure on the Sharks.

Baltimore won game one 5-4, game two 12-2 and took game three 3-2.

Fred Miewnert struggled in game won but got the win to go 6-5 on the season. Brandon Barron had three hits and scored a run and Harry Rumler scored two runs, two hits and had two RBI.

Bobby Sheldon (8-0) even the series at one game apiece with a route going performance allowing 7 hits 2 runs no walks and 9 strikeouts.

Baltimore took game three behind John Myers (5-2) went 8 innings allowed 6 hits and 2 runs, 2 walks 2 strikeouts.

The game was tied going into the 8th inning. Alex Bauman waked, Barron struck out. Mickey Godwin singled to center field. Rip Lamar was replaced by Doc Adams.

Adams struck out Myers but walked Joe Dawkins to force in a run.

Todd Clear picked up a save with a scoreless 9th.

Chicago swept Boston to move one game behind Seattle in third place

Minnesota took two of three from Washington whose lone win ended a 13 game losing streak.

Third game; Seattle 4 Detroit 2

Both clubs scored two runs in the first inning.

Detroit's lead off batter Larry Jordan, who led off game one with a homerun, was walked by Ewald Breeden to begin this one. Art Konerko doubled him in from first base.

Don Marquez drew the second walk of the inning from Breeden with one out.

Mark Powell reached on an infield single, Konerko scored on a ground out to third base by Charlie Wenzel.

Dallas Godby gave up two runs to tie the score in the bottom of the inning.

Andy Pendergast singled and stole second base (8th) with one out. Paul Atwood singled to left scoring Pendergast. Atwood stole second (10) went to third on a passed ball by Mert Cruz. Naymick beat out an infield slow roller to second for a hit. Atwood scored. 2-2 tie.

Seattle took the lead for good in the bottom of the 5th.

Breeden reached on an error by the shortstop Wentzel. Pendergast ground into a double play (4-6-3) Two outs.

But Seattle put together three hits to take a 4-2 lead.

Paul Huntz and Paul Atwood singled putting runners on first and third. Atwood stole second, his second of the game and 11th of the season.

Naymick lined a single past Wentzel at short scoring both runners and giving the leagues leading hitter 36 runs batted in.

Seattle now is in second place, one game out.
