John Trachsel Tears Into 3,000-Hit Club

Still going strong at 38, John Trachsel surpassed 3,000 hits with a 4 for 6 performance in the Red Nuns' 13-3 victory over Montreal today. With two hits earlier in the day, Trachsel reached the rarefied milestone on a trademark single to the opposite field that plated two baserunners and blew the game open for Atlanta. He later added an RBI-double in the 9th for good measure.

The 13-time All-Star finished the game at 3,001 H, 302 HR, 1,330 RBI, 540 2B, 1,731 R, 1,273 BB, and a slash line of .832/.376/.456/.296 across 2,512 games and 10,142 at bats in 17 full seasons. In the field over that span, Trachsel earned four Gold Gloves and compiled an astonishingly slick +174 rating. His illustrious career is missing only a World Series Championship, which he and his teammates will pursue with gusto as a send-off to retirement and enshrinement in the Hall of Fame for the beloved career Red Nun.
