Re: HOF Results
There were a few significant snubs in my opinion:
Dutch Leonard, SP, BOS/KC
http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7620585
CYA, 5 x AS, ERA LL, WHIP LL, 223-147, 3.13 ERA, 1.17 WHIP
I think this was the worst. Although their career statistics are essentially identical, Bashang appeared on 100% of ballots, while Leonard fell one vote short with only 62.5%. Leonard was actually the slightly better pitcher by objective measures (3.13 ERA, 1.17 WHIP to Bashang's 3.13 ERA and 1.19 WHIP). Bashang had 4 CYA to Leonard's 1, but their career win totals were also nearly identical (234 for Leonard to 243 for Bashang).
Bill Brink, C, CHA/CIN
http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=8174679
10 x AS, 3 x GG, BA LL, 339 HR, 1234 RBI, .843/.355/.488/.290
If Leonard is the worst, then Brink, who was on the brink, one vote short at 62.5%, was a close second. He was a 10 x All-Star, 3 x Gold Glove winner with 339 HR and a career .843 OPS...at CATCHER (HOF averages for C are 338 HR, .845 OPS). He is a no-brainer, folks.
Mark Charleston, 1B, PIT/BOS/BRO
http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=8174666
MVP, ROY, 8 x AS, BA LL, 2 x OBP LL, OPS LL, SLG LL, 2426 H, 1504 R, 387 SB, .878/.389/.489/.311
Charleston also clocked in one vote short at 62.5%. What's not to like here? The guy was an MVP and 8 x All-Star and had an .878 career OPS on a .311 career average, which are better than HOF averages of.870 OPS and .299 BA (prior to these inductions) and, more pertinently, the .814 and .285 averages for players 2000-2004 previously elected.
Jackie Bowie, SP, PHI/CHA
http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=4922863
3 x CYA, 5 x AS, 2 x ERA LL, 2 x WHIP LL, 219-189, 3.75 ERA, 1.24 WHIP
I'm going to call Bowie a snub as well. He garnered only 37.5% of the vote, which is unjustifiably low when you consider:
Dutch Leonard, SP, BOS/KC

CYA, 5 x AS, ERA LL, WHIP LL, 223-147, 3.13 ERA, 1.17 WHIP

I'm going to call Bowie a snub as well. He garnered only 37.5% of the vote, which is unjustifiably low when you consider:
- He won 3 CYA's in 4 years
- He boasted a 7-year peak AVERAGING 20 W, 2.72 ERA, and 1.10 WHIP
- He had 4 consecutive (and 5 of 6) 20-W campaigns in that stretch
- He led the league twice each in W, ERA, and WHIP over the same span

Re: HOF Results
As I pointed out in a previous post. When I have numerous chances at least 4 to consider a player I take the no brainers and then the second choices. I realize the next ballot will have better players on it as well. Catch up is always the hardest time for Hall of Fame. Keep the worthies on for a couple of extra ballots if you need to.
Re: HOF Results
Thanks for handling the HOF !
Re: HOF Results
Yes thanks for managing all this - certainly not an insignificant amount a work. I agree with and voted for the 4 “snubs” and hopefully they’ll make the grade next round.
Re: HOF Results
The discussion here is great. It points to how the HOF vote adds to the enjoyment of this game, and that we owe our thanks that someone is willing to put in the time to make it happen. So happy to see it happening!

Re: HOF Results
Thanks, guys. I enjoy the HOF aspect too, and I think it adds significantly to the richness of the game. Obviously owners naturally will think about consistently winning and winning championships first, but cultivating HOF careers for players and getting to enjoy the analysis and debates around candidates are whole other dimensions. I look forward to trying to keep it up.
In order to avoid "HOF fatigue," I'll wait at least a few weeks before posting the next cohort (which I already have queued up), but I'll try to get us caught up by the off season so that we vote annually on the recently retired candidates. One open question is whether we want to have a waiting period once a player retires in order to allow for perspective and context to his career accomplishments and, if so, how long a waiting period.

Re: HOF Results
I throw them out there the year of retiring. Some leagues wait one seasons. If you wait to long you forget to post it and your back where you are now. I run a 24 team league HOF where the picking can be one or two or 8. So no good way to do it.
