Shirai Throws 9 Shutout Innings on 2 Hits in Relief

Post by acnunnally »

Veteran's Day came early for the Red Nuns when 34-year-old Japanese standout Nariyuki Shirai threw 9 innings of 2-hit scoreless relief for Atlanta, capturing the win by closing out a 17-inning marathon against Pittsburgh. Veteran All-Star slugger Jim Stack won it on a walk-off solo shot in the bottom of the 17th, his second home run of the game, giving him 25 on the year.

The Red Nuns are in a very tight pennant race with Brooklyn (1 GB) and Milwaukee (3 GB), following Atlanta's 11-game winning streak to go seven games up, only to fall backwards after an 8-game losing streak. Atlanta's ownership is petitioning SimDynasty for an investigation into ABE's alleged cruel mean-regression algorithms.

That's one helluva relief performance, and a great pennant race!!

As for ABE, insiders say he has close ties to North Korea. :-)

ABE is partial to Bacardi rum.
