Playoff MVPs

Post by GM33 »

Washington Winshares

2030 WORLD SERIES MVP goes to Tadakatsu Tanaka, who was a terrific 2-0, with 1 Run allowed in 17 INN, including a complete game shutout -- and a HOME RUN to break a 5th inning scoreless tie! -- in the Game 6 clincher. The 31 yr old, let's call him Ta-Ta, finished his 2nd reg season with 20 Wins and all-star reserve selection.

2030 ALCS MVP goes to Derrick Stangle, former CIN Red Stocking backstop. In 24 plate appearances, Stangle did his best Byron Kiner impersonation and mashed to a line of .409/.458/.727/1.186

Honorable mention to Jack Bahr, for a WS ring at the tail end of a great HOF-caliber career. Bahr, now a part-time player at age 37, was 3-6 with a BB in the Series.

2031 WORLD SERIES MVP goes to Charlie Greer in his OS 34 year. The All-Star reserve was 2-0, with a complete game shutout and no runs allowed in 17 INN overall. 0.75 WHIP. Dominant.

2031 ALCS MVP goes to young 2B Eddie Staller, who collected 11 hits in 21 ABs, with multi-hit games in 4 of the 5 (and hit for the cycle; over the entire series, that is). Peripherals were a juicy 1.355, .545, .810, .524.

Honorable mention to CF Greg Martin, who hit .400 in the ALCS and had a 1.046 OPS in the WS, including 2 HRs in the game 6 clincher.

2034 World Series co-MVPs are SP Jack Radlosky and OF Russ Thurmond.

Radlosky, a 21 game winner, pitched 17 innings across 2 starts and a scoreless, clinching 2+ inning relief appearance in the thrilling 10-inning Game 7. The WinShares won all 3 WS games in which Radlosky pitched and his peripherals were a tidy 1.06 WHIP / 1.59 ERA.

Thurmond slugged .852, along with a .407 AVG and .429 OBP, over the 7 games. More than half of Thurmond's 11 hits went for extra bases with 2 HRs, 2 Triples, and 2 Doubles. Not suprisingly, Thurmond scored the Series winning run in the 10th inning of Game 7, hustling around from first base on a double. Thurmond also had an OPS of .968 in the ALCS.

2034 ALCS MVP goes to closer Don White, who picked up 3 saves across 3 scoreless innings, allowing only 1 BB, vs. the always dangerous NYA offense.

2047 WORLD SERIES MVP and ALCS MVP is Dick Neidlinger. The 5-time All Star starter and 2045 ALCS MVP was seeing the ball quite well in the post season and put up a .500 OBP in each series, along with several extra base hits.

OPS OBP SLG ISO AVG
LCS 1.079 0.500 0.579 0.211 0.368
WS 1.154 0.500 0.654 0.231 0.423
Total 1.122 0.500 0.622 0.222 0.400

In 66 career playoff games, Neidlinger owns a .307 avg and .399 OBP.

2049 WORLD SERIES MVP was Hal Tatum with incredible peripherals of 1.493/.593/.900/.450 in 6 games, including 25 total bases! Tatum had 2 HRs in game one, 2 Doubles and a Walk in game two, 2 Hits and a Walk in game three, 2 hits including a Double and a Walk in game four, 2 Walks in game five, and a Hit and 2 more Walks in game six. The most amazing part of all this may be that he ONLY scored 4 runs. Tatum was also previously named CO-MVP for the 2046 WORLD SERIES.

2049 ALCS MVP was SS Hal Swift, with peripherals of 1.263/.529/.733/.467, including 13 total bases, 6 runs scored, and his usual stellar defense in 4 games. Swift capped off a season that including his 2nd All-Star selection and 4th consecutive Gold Glove.

The WinShares scouting department has been directed to keep their eyes out for players named Hal in upcoming drafts.

2053 ALCS tri-MVPs (spreading the love) were Darwin Martin, Doc Clingman, and the season's AL Cy Young and 25 game winner Bill Tiernan. Martin and Clingman put up near identical batting lines over 6 games, with 11 hits, 4 BBs, and 6 runs scored a piece, for OPS of 1.208 and 1.168, respectively. Tiernan picked up where he left off in the regular season and won both his starts, with 11 Ks in 14 IP, and a WHIP/ERA of 1.00/1.29

______________________________________________________________________________

2055 WORLD SERIES MVP was 36 year old Johnny Schemanske. 2057 WORLD SERIES co-MVPs were 3B Bruce Grey and SP Connor Seabold. Grey hit safely in all 7 games and had 2 hits in 5 of the 7 games, tallying 12 hits overall to go with 4 runs and 5 rbi, and an overall line of .931/.467/.464/.429. Seabold was 1-0 in two starts, working around one bad inning to grind out a W in game 3, then simply dazzled in the all-or-nothing game 7 with seven scoreless innings and 5 strike outs, allowing only 4 hits and 0 walks. Unfortunately, the bullpen proceeded to the blow the lead, but it was a notable performance nonetheless and Seabold concluded the series with a 1.00 WHIP and 2.77 ERA, including 13 strikeouts and only 2 walks in 12 innings.

2057 ALCS MVP was 1B Darwin Martin, winning the award for the 2nd time. After a forgettable 0-5 performance in Game 1, the leadoff hitter heated up and went 4-6 in Game 2; 1-5 in Game 3; 3-3 with 3 walks and 3 runs and 3 rbi in Game 4; 2-5 with a run and 2 rbi in Game 5, and finally 5-5 with 1 walk and 2 runs and 3 rbi in the series clinching Game 6. That means in both games 3 and 6, Martin reached base safely in all 6 of his plate appearances! Martin finished with 15 hits total in the 6 games, reaching base 19 times overall, with a line of 1.231/.576/.655/.517.
