Pittsburgh Killing it During Win-Streak

Post by spicoli306 »

They are currently at 13 wins in a row!

If they win today's 3rd game, they will be at 14.

With Houston clearly at Gold-standard status and Milwaukee once again beating the odds, the addition of Pittsburgh in the race for the NL could make things interesting in 2025.

The primary suspects for the turnaround are difficult to find, but I'll highlight Tony Kilroy, Dave Babington, and Sandy Millette. Kilroy has turned a forgettable cup of coffee rookie year into a tremendous start of a sophomore year. Babington is interesting as he is an on-base machine with a .306 career average, which is remarkable considering he still has 5+ years of prime to go. Finally, Millette is likely team MVP at this point. Last season was a breakthrough of sorts and this season has been a pinch better.

Well, what a difference a couple weeks makes. Pittsburgh sure did get to #14. Problem was they immediately turned back into a pumpkin. After Game 54, they were 30-24 (.556 Win%).

The next 48 games didn't quite go as well. Pittsburgh has only won 17 of those 48 games. Good for only a .354 Winning %.

Meanwhile, over in the AL, Boston is currently on the outs for a playoff spot. The primary reason being our inability to beat Toronto. We just lost our 5th game against Toronto. Toronto has won all of 14 out of 87 of all of their games against other teams. Washington has pulled off the full season sweep so far with a 15-0 record so far. Don't ask me how our team has struggled so badly.
