Re: Congratulations Minnesota!
Congratulations to both Minnesota and the runner-up Houston!
If you didn't check it out, Games 4, 5, & 6 were especially memorable.
Game 4 HOU 2, MIN 1
Houston needed to go to 4 pitchers to get out of the 1st inning. In my mind, this is where the Series was lost. Houston's roster has been aging, but this kind of logistical nightmare shouldn't be occurring in Spring Training, let alone Game 4 of the World Series. Pulido starting was the 1st questionable move, but pulling him after only 3 hits allowed was the 1st domino of many to fall in that game. That set up "utility wrench relief extraordinaire" Bob Grob to take over an impossible situation. Grob would fail to get outs and then be used in Game 5 for equally subpar results.
Game 5 MIN & HOU Tied @ 2 wins
This game was Shakespearean.
1) The Minnesota starter was none other than former Halberd Spud Rosenthal who would handcuff his former teammates through 7 and 1/3 inning, only allowing 5 hits and 1 walk before trouble hit in the 8th inning. One walk and one home run by Jackie Burks ended the shutout and trimmed the lead from 3-0 to 3-2.
2) In the bottom of the 9th inning, with HOU trailing 3-2, one legend (Dick Harnisch) would drive in another (Paul Lopez) for the 3rd Houston run to force extra innings.
3) After Minnesota scored a tough to scrape out run in the top of the 11th, they went into the bottom of the inning needing 3 outs for the 4-3 win. 2 hitters would quickly get on with a single and an error. After a pitching change and 2 quick outs, the new pitcher's error led to bases loaded for the least likely hitter Alejandro Fiss to pull out the heroic game-tying RBI-walk. This brought up "The Mighty Casey" in Mike Patterson to win the game for Houston who would promptly fly out to left with the bases loaded. Minnesota scored 1 run in the 12th and would hold on to win 5-4.
Game 6 MIN 3, HOU 2
This game was Shakespeare Part Deux.
1) Minnesota starter, and also former Houston pitcher, Phil Watt would outdo Rosenthal by pitching 8 brilliant shutout innings to handoff the ball for the 2-0 win to Lefty Necciai.
2) Necciai would quickly blow the 2-0 lead by allowing a 2-run HR to Fred McCardell with 2 outs in the 9th.
3) This sequence would set up the unheralded Varney Speier to not only get the 3rd out in the 9th, but also get another 9 outs and earn a 2nd win to go along with the win he earned from Game 5.

Re: Congratulations Minnesota!
Absolutely. No lead was safe in these games.
Houston just has legend after legend in that lineup, with no breaks. Then there's the pitching staff.....
I was truly fortunate to come away with the victory over such a great team.
Good thing it happened this season too, because I don't have much (if any) time left in my window with this squad.
