***2022 HOF Thread***

Post by spicoli306 »

Fellow JML owners, I've compiled a list of players as nominees for this year's ballot. Some are holdovers that previously received votes and some are new nominees that were either chosen by team owners or chosen by myself as worthy candidates.

Newly nominated candidates are: Tom Grubbs, Randy McMahon, Luis Fowler, Pat Johnson, & Stu Whisenant

As always, I'd like to encourage everyone to vote. I understand not every owner cares about the HOF voting. However, if you are a relatively new owner, do not feel that you are not justified to vote. Voting is best when it is a collaborative process involving as many owners as possible. Even though some owners have only been here for recent seasons, it is relatively simple to get an idea of past players with HOF-level careers.
If unsure, I'd encourage owners to take a look at the list of players already enshrined in the JML HOF.

This ballot had 1 Automatic Qualifier, which are selected based on career statistic totals of:
500 HR
3000 H
300 W

You can vote for up to 10 players. You can vote for fewer. If you choose to vote for nobody, please declare that. Please announce your vote by replying to this thread on our league message board.

Players on 75% of the ballots cast will be enshrined into the Hall of Fame.

Players with an ** have each have been on 5 (or more) ballots so far and have failed to reach induction; they will be dropped off the ballot if support does not increase with this vote. (None of the candidates have been on 5 ballots yet. This is #5 for Bill Khalifa & Ed Maddox. If they are not inducted this season, they will need more votes in future votes to stay on this list.)

Thanks for everyone's participation,
Michael

I am just recently getting some time off again to try and enjoy but will only last for a short time..summer is coming up

Anyways glad to see Casey Chapman goat in this league or at least during the time I have been here in this league...i was happy to have had him on my team for a few seasons.

Anyways my votes are:

Grubbs
Whisenant
Khalif
Bosch
Fox
Maddox

I am glad to see Luis Fowler nominated (my best waiver wire pick up ever)... but eventhough one of my past players I just don't feel HOF worthy unfortunately

Will do. I feel the same way some times (especially with some of my old Boston players ;) ). I'm not going to change my vote this time (2022), but I usually am influenced by who you other owners are supporting. I keep track in a spreadsheet so I will give you a chance to give input on a guy that is near the 75% needed.

Glad to hear you have some more free time. I'm also trying to devote more time to the JML. Busy, busy lives, right?

Chapman was very, very good. His dominance was especially telling considering that the quality of talent around that time really seemed to be great (Kentucky Jones, Julio LaGarza, Jack Dougherty, your guy Terry Dopson, my guy Mickey Valdez, etc.). I think that really says something for the quality of drafts around the end of the 1990's and the beginning of the 2000's. It was also because of some really good developing of prospects that is really important to getting a fun, competitive run. It's a testament to the league quality that Chapman was able to win 8 MVPs, but really only contributed to Toronto's 2008 & 2012 championships (he hung on for 2018 & 2020, but he wasn't integral to those wins). I give a lot of credit to you(SEA), dwjapp/musial55(TOR), BCNEvan/Dharmabums(WAS), mxd737(CHA) & lwikel(MIN) and on the NL side, vikball(CHN), Lyrici17(MON), and machoking(HOU). Please don't be offended if I left any owners off the list. I wouldn't even include my BOS team with those rosters as we haven't had a truly sustained success period due to the ridiculously talented teams over the last few decades.

I agree, Fowler was a very interesting player. He comes across like a kind of Jason Heyward-type guy who played great defense in a corner outfield spot that normally doesn't have players with great range. I had forgotten you had picked him up off of waivers. It makes sense though considering he required quite a bit of painful development. His 2012 was brutal and he was essentially completely developed. Shows how the "very good" players differ from the "great" players. Quietly ending up with 1432 Runs Scored and 1134 BBs is pretty impressive, but you are right. He's not likely going to get in the HOF.

New to the league, so that's my take. It's really tough to translate real-world standards to SimDynasty standards. That and I'm not at all familiar with any of the players. I looked more at All-Star appearances because those players were probably the best of their era at that position.
