Seattle 3 Detroit 0

Post by basilrathbonejr »

11-5 Seattle is definitely being seen in Oakland's rear view mirror whether the A's will admit it, or not.

The SuperStars have won seven straight and nine of their last ten signaling that slowly but surely this race will get tighter.

Seattle's Eddie Kretlow (1-1) went eight shutout innings scattering five hits, walking three and striking out six.

Johnny Mills worked a clean ninth inning for his second save.

Harry Joyce, the Detroit starting pitcher went eight innings, as well, but was charged with one run on five hits.

The rn givien up by Joyce scored in the fifth inning when he walked Dan Davey with one out. Dick Toenes singled to center field sending Davey scrambling around to third base ahead of the throw,The pitcher, Kretchlow's single to centerfield, plated the run.

His own RBI would be enought but Seattle was able to add on two more in thetop of the 8th for some insurance. Dax ordan doubled in Lou Valo and Joe Burdette. Both were on with singles.

FINAL 3-0 Seattle.
