I grabbed my Punter from the Waiver Wire and my K was a 6th round pick. I don't really think they are that important in sim. For stats, I just try to get high accuracy kickers and high kick power punters (and most of that value is getting touchbacks on your kickoffs).

My kicker, for example, was B- when I drafted him, is still only a B overall kicker, and he's 41/43 on field goals through 2 seasons. There are ALWAYS passable kickers/punters on the waiver wire, especially older ones.

Glad people find this helpful, I just made a few small changes and added the K/P positions to the first posts.

I wish there there was a way to permanently pin this to the top because I've used it quite a few times.
