2048 Coach of the Year Nominations

Post by Neon17 » Mon Mar 02, 2020 11:38 pm

Nominate a coach that you think is worthy of being on the ballot. Nominations should be based on coaching performance, not record, and postseason performance should be strictly ignored. This was an overwhelming success last season, lets do it even better this year! :P

I've got to nominate my division rival Killroy24. With a strong draft and some excellent strategy for a newbie he got one of jenko's old feeder teams to 8-8 in his first season playing SD football ever. That's a lot more than I can lay claim to. :P

New Jersey Sharks coach redsoxrule is my vote. He goes 11-5 and a 5-1 record in that division and makes the playoffs. What more could you ask for?!?!

I'd say Cueball. His roster was dead-to-rights age-wise coming into the year (his current roster's average age is 28.44230769230769) yet through some smart moves and coaching he was able to get 13 wins out of a aging roster and his QB actually had the best statistical year of his career at age 33 before sadly ending up on IR in the very last game of the season :(. Seems like an appropriate nomination even though he happens to be my buddy

I nominate lancereisen. He was 6-10 last season. This season he is 11-5 and won his division and made the playoffs. 6-0 in his division.

Remember this shouldn't be about how a team drafts or makes up it's team. That is the GM side. Atleast that is what i was told....

It's odd though because context is for kings. I understand it shouldn't be about the draft and the "moves he made" comment I made probably shouldn't be considered but in some part, we have to describe the situation the coach was in right? I may have phrased it in a GM-ish way but I just meant to say that he managed to win big with older declining players. I don't think that's that bad, right? I think that a player doing a lot with a little has merit. Mike Tomlin manage to get a good season out of the Steelers even though that had a boatload of injuries and he's not the GM of that team yet many considered him to be the best coach of the year

The line is blurred and its that way on purpose. Coaches are the GMs on many NFL teams so many times roster moves and construction is part of being a coach.

I think the 'coach of the year' is unique in sim leagues and should perhaps take into consideration moves and drafts, after all as far as coaching goes we go with a few plays we think might equal winning a game but usually comes down to players making plays, whether for good or for bad these plays decide the fate of the game.

I'll go with Abadejo, two seasons is all it has taken to get the Sun Devils back to a winning record.
