Washington took game three of their series with the Minnesota Frostys, in Minnesota, to win the series two games to one. The Senators are now 4-2 against Minnesota head to head this season and have a 21-12 record, tied with Baltimore for first place.

Washington's starting pitcher Bill Fisher improved to 4-2 by going eight innings allowing one earned run on three hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

Minnesota took a 1-0 lead in 5th inning off Minnesota starting pitcher Fisher. Jon McDonald and Billy Tremie opened the inning with single putting runners on first and third. McDonald scored on a sacrifice fly by Fred Howser to put Minnesota ahead 1-0.

Washington responded with two runs in the top of the 6th inning. Jim Knothe drew a one out walk. Steve Walsh advanced the runner with a ground out. John Bracken drove in the tying run with a single to left field and stole second base putting himself in scoring position for Jimmy Jamieson to drive in with a single to left field.

2-1 Washington.

Jamieson had three hits giving him a league high 46 for the season and he is hitting .380, tops in the American League.

Washington added two final runs in the eighth inning for a 4-1 lead. Knothe singled to center field. Bracken walked with one out. and Jamieson singled in Knothe. Earl Battle replaced Walter Rudinsky and Dick Walters scored Bracken with a sac-fly. It was Walters league best 26th run batted in.

Sam Jorgenson pitched the ninth inning for his 10th save. Jorgenson gave up a run on two walks and a hit. The run came in on a double play and Jorgenson struck out Bill Tremie to end the game.

Baltimore 6 Oakland 2

Baltimore completed a sweep of Oakland that dropped Oakland from sole possession of first to one game behind Washington and Oakland at 20-13.

Stephen Rudolf went seven innings for the win (4-2) giving up two runs on eight hits. Rudolf walked one and struck out eight.

Jim Arntzen pitched two scoreless innings of relief for his second save.

Dashell Paul (6) and Hardy Houser (2nd) homered for Baltimore and Bill Straker hit his 9th for Oakland.
