Game one;

Boston 3 Los Angeles 2

Los Angeles scored both of their runs in this game in the top of the fourth inning off Boston's starting pitcher Chauncey Murray. Bill Brooks singled to start the inning and Murray issued one of his three bases on balls to John Bruyette. Jack Ross followed with a single to right field scoring Brooks. Bruyette scored the second run on a infield ground out to shortstop Greg Cruz and Los Angeles took a 2-0 lead.

Murray did not allow another run over the remainder of the game. Murray gave up only three more hits and one walk with ten strikeouts to improve to 4-7 with a 3,80 ERA and a league high 5 complete games.

Pierce Slaughter, the Los Angeles starter, went seven and two thirds innings, allowed four hits and no runs, with two walks and five strikeouts. Jack Hickey got the final out of the eighth inning when Boston rallied with two outs off Slaughter.

Skowron walked and Jim Glauber singled sending the speedy Skowron to third base. Hickey faced one batter, Mark Indermill, who lines a laser shot right at third baseman Bill Brooks, who caught it in the webbing of his glove for the final out of the inning.

Murray got Los Angeles out quicky in the top of the ninth and Jimmy Scott came in to finish the game for Los Angeles. Scott retired the first batter he faced, Greg Cruz, on a ground out to shortstop Tom Valdez. Scott walked the next two batters, Alex Flaherty and Bryan Perez, and catcher Buddy Kracher singled, driving in Flaherty to break up the shutout.

The next batter, centerfielder Jose Nicosia singled in Perez to tie the game 2-2 with the crowd roaring its approval. The roaring crowd has hardly taken their seats when centerfielder Jose Nicosia singled home Perez, and Kracher went to third base, with one out.

Bob Lee replaced Scott to face a possible pinch hitter that never appeared. Pitcher Chauncey Murray batted for himeself and singled in the winning run...

HOW 'BOUT THAT!
