BOSTON 4 LOS ANGELES 3

Boston once again came back in the late innings to win. Then BeanEaters victimized the Los Angeles bullpen for the second straight game.

Boston took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning. Buddy Kracher doubled with two outs. Kracher scored when centerfielder Jose Nicosia singled to right field.

Los Angeles has dominated the middle innings in this series. They scored two runs off Boston starter Blaze O'Connell. O'Connell allowed three hits and two runs over seven innings , but once McConnell again had problems with walks when he put six on base and struck out six as well.

The two Los Angeles runs came in the 5th inning. O'Connell walked the first two batters of the inning, Tom Valdez and John Blethan, and then gave up a run scoring single to Bill Brooks that tied the game 1-1. Los Angeles went ahead 2-1 on a ground out to first baseman Mark Indermill.

Los Angeles added to their lead in the top of the 8th inning. Jose Stoddard doubled with one out and scored on a single by Press Smith.

Los Angeles led 3-1 and Frank Hernandez, like O'Connell, had one of his better outings went seven and a third innings allowing three runs on seven hits allowed only one walk and struck out eight. Hernandez had a six hit shutout going into the eighth inning when the BeanEaters ralled one inning earlier in this game.

Mark Skowron singled to left to start the inning. Jim Glauber advanced the runnner with a slow roller to second baseman Jose Stoddard. Hernandez issued his first base on balls in the game to Indermill which brought Jack Hickey into the game for the second time in the series.

Alex Flaherty greeted Hickey with his ninth homerun of the season, the 3rd allowed by Hickey in 12 innings, to put Boston ahead 3-2.

Larry Hriniak had been rested for a couple of games pitched the ninth, and faced the minimum to earn his 13th save.

Los Angels left 10 runners on base...Boston left 6.
