Seattle Perfectos 7 Baltimore Tigers 5
in 10 innings
Seattle is 5-0 in extra innings.
Baltimore is 1-5.

Seattle scored five runs in the 6th inning to take a 5-3 lead on doubles by Larry Gruber (RBI), George Daly (RBI), a two run double by Billy Young and a sacrifice fly by Juan Edgarton off James Speier (5.2IP 5H 5R/5ER 4BB/5SO).

Baltimore tied the game 5-5 in the 9th inning off Seattle closer Roberto Buker (blown save) thanks to an error by second baseman Billy Young, a run scoring triple by pinch hitter Al Dantonio, and a RBI single by Fred McCormick.

George Daly's 10th of the season in the tenth inning off Steve McDonald (2nd allowed by McDonald in 8.2 innings pitched) walked it off for Seattle.

Ozzie Rhyne got the win 6-1.

Seattle is now 27-19, six behind first place Anaheim and now has a three game winning streak.

Toronto 2 Tampa 1

Dick Gooch hit his 5th of the season in the 5th inning for Toronto off losing pitcher Emmer Howard (0-8) 8IP 7H 2R/2ER 2BB/6SO).

Winning pitcher Rick Kennedy went eight innings giving up just three hits one run two walks and had seven strikeouts. Kennedy did not allow a hit until George Maisel singled with two outs in the 7th inning. George Case put the only run up for Tampa in the 8th with his 2nd of the season.

Terry Mangus (9th save) worked a scoreless 9th for the winners.

Oakland 4 Texas 3


Dick Anderson 5-2 got the win thanks to a two single by Howie Reid and RBI singles by Tim Snyder and Norm Shoffner in the 3rd inning.

Lou Murphy and Ted Bettencourt homered for Texas.

Angels 4 New York 2

New York starting pitcher Julio Pittman was rocked for a lead off double by Ossie Gilhooley and a two run homerun by Paul Dillon (10th) in the 1st inning. Pittman hit Jim Nixon with a pitch with one out. Davy Marquard singled him to third where he scored on an error by right fielder Oscar Gload.

Pittman also hit pitcher Larry Casey with a pitch in the second inning. Gilhooley followed with his second hit of the game, a single, but both were left on.

Don Lary added a run scoring single off Pittman in the 6th.

Casey (WP 3-2) went 8 innings 8 hits 1 run no walks 7 strikeouts and turned things over to closer Charlie Vines in the 9th. Vines gave up a homerun to Oscar Gload, the second for Gload as well as the second allowed by Vines who has held the leaue to a .189 batting average and now his 11 saves.
