Game two...Angels 5 New York 2

The seven game winning streak of the Angels has seen them hit ten homeruns in those games, score 35 runs and hold the opposition to 22 (+13).Paul Dillon has led the way with four homeruns in the last four games and Tom Kearns has hit three in his last three games. Nixon, Raydon and rookie first baseman Sheldon Pulida each have hit one.

The Angel starting pitcher for this game was Larry Casey who was 4-3 going in with eight no decisions. Casey put in 6.2 innings was charged with two runs on six hits walked two and struck out five for his second consecutive win. New York starter Bob Lansing lasted just four innings going cuffed around for eight hit and five earned runs three walks and two strikeouts to fall to 5-5.

Ossie Gilhooley led off with a single and Paul Dillon got the Anaheim offense rolling early with a two run shot in the first inning, giving him four in four games and 16 for the season, the most in the American League. Les Raydon singled for Anaheim's, Les Raydon singled and Jim Nixon doubled in Anaheim's third run of the inning. Troy Uhlaender singled for Anaheim's fifth hit off Lansing in the inning but center fielder Gus leathers threw Nixon out at the plate. Don Lary walked, the fifth consecutive batter to reach in the inning. Todd Campau singled to right field but right fielder Oscar Gload threw out Uhlaender at the plate for the third out.

New York had given up three runs on six hits and a walk, but somehow had the momentum on their side as the inning came to and end.

3-0 Angels.

In the second inning Gilhooley walked with one out and Tom Kearns launched his 9th homerun of the season to up the score to 5-0.

That score stood until Casey tired a bit and gave up two runs in the 7th inning. Roy Foxen walked to start the inning. Foxen was forced at second as Casey got the next two batters out. Then Gload singled with two outs sending Phil Michaels to third base. Tinsley Wiltse singled in Michaels with Gload making it safely to third base. Pinch hitter Bret Teshnock singled in the second run binging Casey's efforts to an end. Left hander Larry Cox replacedCasey with two outs and got Gus leathers to strand runners on first and third by grounding out to Marquard at shortstop.

Anaheim 5 New York 2

Charlie Vines took over from Cox after the lefthander had worked a perfect 8th inning and got the final three outs for his 22nd save.
