Toronto 3 Seattle 1

Toronto and Seattle began an important late season series in Seattle. Toronto is 2-4 against Seattle at home and 3-1 on the road against the third place Swappers.

With the game one win Toronto, 42-31, reduced their magic number to clinch the Wild Card to five and a sweep would reduce it to one with six games remaining all but clinching it for the Trudeaus.

Rick Kennedy, 7-5 improved to 7-5 w/a ERA of 2.82. Kennedy. a 28 year old lefthamnder from Gulfport, Mississippi, went 8 inning, gave up one run on seven hits and struck out eight.

Losing pitcher Spec Hack dropped to 6-3 after the loss with a 3.53 ERA.

All Star second base man Ray Wilson hit hit his 9th homerun of the season with George Krivda aboard for a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning. The blast to deep left field was the 7th allowed by Hack came in the 6th inning.

Toronto made it 3-0 in the 6th. Tony Daugherty (.342BA 10Hrs 45RBI) singled to center field. George Krivda singled past diving second baseman Billy young amnd Terry Becker's single to left field drove in Daugherty.

Seattle scored in kennedy's final inning of work, the 8th. Pinch hitter Jim Derrington tripled and catcehr Dave Arroy drove him in with and infield single.

Sport Porray garnered his second save facing three batters in the 9th and striking out Billy young to end the game.
