Incase you are unaware the Anaheim Angels defeat Toronto, the Wild Card team in the ALCS in six games, but for the second straight year the national League Houston Oilers took home the Championship Trophy. Congratulations to that fine organization on the win in six games.

The 1952 regular season is now ten games old and that bitter defeat has faded into baseball lore and it is back to business of trying to have good season. The New York Bad Boys and the Anaheim Angels, bitter rivals for two seasons now, began a three game series in New York.

Both teams have had slower starts than they would have wanted. The Bad Boys are 3-7 five games behind the Texas Southern team. Anaheim dropped its first three to Oakland and a the final game of a three game set to first place Texas to find themselves 6-4 with injuries popping up unlike last season.

Catcher Dick hudek grounded out to first baseman Sheldon Pulido. Gload advanced to third and Leshnock to second base. One out. Pitcher Jim Harris bounced out to second baseman Bob Randolf that scored the second run (Gload). Roberts issued his second walk of the inning to Wayne Romano but Ed Pettigrew forced him at second to end the inning.

3-0 New York.

Roberts settled down and aside from two walks to Gus Jordan and Corey Gerber. to start the 3rd inning, retired nine straight batters.

The 8th place hitter, catcher Jim Torres, singled moving Slocumb to second, The pitcher, Frank Roberts, got his second hit of the season, and 17th of his career, driving in Slocumb. (First RBI of season for Roberts, 9th of career).

Gilhooley struck out and Roberts was caught stealing for the second out. Bob Randolf, who had a good season pinch hitting in 1951 including a pinch hit homerun in the World Series, doubled in Torres to cut the New York lead to one, 3-2.

Anaheim tied the game 3-3 in the 6th inning. Jim Nixon singled to left field but was caught strealing. Paul Dillon singled to left field. Pulido struck out for the second out but Dillon stole second. Hudeck's throw went into centerfield for a throwing error on the catcher andvDillon scrambled to his feet and went on to third base. With Slocumb at bat, Jim Harris let loose a wild pitch tha allowed Dillon to score.

The tie did not last long. Roberts faced two batters in the 6th. Oscar Gload singled and Brett Leshnock followed with his league leading 4th homerun (league leader in RBIs as well with 11) to put new York in front 5-3.

The former closer, Charlie Vines, came in to replace Roberts (5IP 6H 5R5ER 4BB/4SO).
