Baseball notes;

The Angels are 4-2 against Texas but 2-4 against Toronto this season.

Tom Kearns lead the American League in homeruns with 11, two more than four players with 9; Lou Murphy, Mitchell Anderson, and Harl loucks all of Texas and Howie Reid of Oakland.

Murphy leads the AL in runs batted in with 33, two more than Reid (31). Kearns is 5th with 28.

Gus Leathers (.345) leads New York teammate Bill Doyle (.338) in batting average.

Six pitchers are tied for the most wins in the league (6), Spec Hack (Seattle), Larry Barker (Toronto), James Speier 9Baltimore), Snake Cooley (Texas), Dale Doll Toronto, and Bob Lansing (New York).

Doll has the league's best ERA; 1.62

Speck Hack is the strikeout leader (67), followed closely by Baltimore's Joe Kress' 65, and Lansing's 64.

Anaheim 6 Oakland 3

The Angels picked up their second straight win to tie them with Toronto three games behind Texas.
Both Texas and Toronto have lost two straight.

Starter Mike Marion, given extra rest between starts as the Angels began using six starters, improved to 4-1 3.83. Marion pitched for eight innings allowed five hits and three earned runs, walked three and struck out five.

Oakland broke up his shutout bid in the 4th inning on a lead off walk to Everett Telemaco that was followed by a single off the bat off Campy Campaneris and a run scoring scoring ground out by Fred McNeil (5-1 Angels at the time.)

In the 7th inning Oakland added two more to their total. Tim Snyder lined a one out double to leftfield and scored on a single by former Angels All Star catcher Les Raydon. Raydon scored on a one out sacrifice fly by pinch hitter Melvin Thompson.

Oakland starting pitcher, Ed Dransfeldt, a 34 year old righthander, making his major league debut, was roughed up for three runs on only two hits. Two walks and a hit batter did not help his cause. Lead off batter Ossie Gilhooley singled and the second batter, Paul Dillon walked. Tom Kearns singled in Gilhooley and Dillon reached third base. Don Lary drew the second walk of the inning issued by Dransfeldt who hit Troy Uhlaender with the basdes loaded forcing in Dillon with the second run. Kearns scoreed on a ground out by David Marqaurd to put Anaheim in tront 3-0.

Three singles by Dillon, Jim Nixon and Kearns in the second inning added on a run. 4-0 Angels.

David Marquard hit his second round tripper of the 3rd inning. 5-0 Angels.

With Dick Valezquezon the mound for Oakland, Uhlaender doubled, advanced on an infield out and scored an un-earned run on an error by second baseman Calvin Hanna. 6-0 Angels.

Charlie Vines issued a walk in the 9th but allowed nothing else in earning his 13th save.
