The August/September Surprise

Post by tworoosters »

We've been lucky with injuries this year but you know it can't last:

8/26/2169

Ed Priest of the Los Angeles Miracles is injured and is expected to be out 20 days.

8/27/2169

Mike Logan of the Los Angeles Miracles is injured and is expected to be out 22 days.

8/28/2169

Edgar Evers of the Los Angeles Miracles is injured and is expected to be out 26 days.

Three days, three injuries. First my starting RF vs RHP, then the leading vote getter in the MVP race & last an All Star RP who leads us in saves & appearances. Looks like we might need all of that 13 game lead over 3rd place

Note:

This is not a problem unique to Los Angeles. I watch the injury list pretty regularly and every year it seems there are a lot more injuries in August & September. Generally there are somewhere between 15-20 injured players, there are currently 36 injured players

I believe I remember reading a long time back that pitchers specifically start seeing more injuries at 200 innings, so the increase doesn't surprise me. We've had a few injuries this year but nothing like we've had in years past (knock on wood).
