Rookie of the Year and 3 All Stars

Post by tworoosters »

Well when you improve 31 games in the standings the odds are you had some solid performances so only one year after getting shutout at the All Star game the Los Angeles Miracles return with some individual honours.

Japanese import, and #1 overall pick in the 2125 amateur draft, Mana Ukawa lived up to the hype by posting a 13-8 record while finishing the year 5th in NL ERA & 7th in WHIP to easily take NL Rookie of the Year honours. The only down note was the 38 day injury that likely cost Ukawa a spot on the All Star team and may have cost LA a playoff berth.

First time All Stars were Mike Woods who was named starting 1B, in a weak field, and Mike Dibdin who also finished 3rd in NL MVP balloting after posting a career year, was named to the All Star team at 2B. Returning to the All Star roster for the 3rd time was Masaka Sokunju who rebounded from an off year to regain the starting spot in CF, Sokunju's 47 doubles are a Miracles single season record and the ninth highest single season total in the 176 year history of the BHL .
