I think that I have given 42 year old IF Buck Walter enough playing time this season to ensure that he returns yet again next year for another crack at things. He is wrapping up his 19th season in the BoHo and he just reached another milestone - 400 steals in his career. Buck has done it all in his career ... except for winning that elusive world series ring.
In his 19 seasons between LAN and TEX, he has 10 playoff appearances, 4 world series appearances, and 0 championships. He has earned 10 all-star selections and 3 gold gloves. He led the league in OPS twice (once each in the NL and AL).
Walter is 30th all-time in runs scored. 37th in BB's. 44th in hits. 96th in steals.
A great career, likely to come to an end within the next few seasons, but worth remembering.

Fantastic - one of the best. He needs (deserves) one more shot at a ring!!!

Man he's had a great career. 10 time all star, 3 gold gloves and got jobbed for the MVP in 2100, in my opinion .
Tough luck on the lack of ring, 10 trips to the post season and four times to the Fall Classic it's hard to fathom he doesn't end up on the right side at least once.
He's still an A+ mentor so he'll have some value for you next year.

He certainly has value. If I were trying to compete, he would be starting as my SS if I was trying to compete and get to the playoffs again. He's been a terrific mentor for us and his positional eligibility helps a lot with injuries and such. I probably wouldn't trade him for less than a 3rd rounder, even in his 40's!

You're 5 games out at the 48 game mark and Walter is hitting .360 with an .890 OPS while his replacement struggles mightily.
The fans and the Texas media must be going crazy wondering why he's nailed to the bench, especially with 3,000 hits within his reach with more ABs.
