In game #159 with nothing to play for I lose perhaps my most irreplaceable player as Sam Thornton goes down for 22 days. My backup is already down until October 10th so I will head into the post season with a 38 year old hitting .056 and a B overall untested 26 year old behind the plate


Having already lost my #2 SP earlier in September I guess we really are at the point where anyone below blue health should be rested .

That makes for quite the different playoff than we thought.

Yeah, we're screwed.

Realistically Thornton is our MVP, a catcher with an .887 OPS who throws out 47% of base runners is simply not possible to replace. Odds are Geraghty will win the NL MVP and while he's had a fantastic year, getting on base 300 times, the drop off from him to his replacement is nowhere near the abyss that exists between Thornton and plan B
