This OS I was hoping to improve my rotation and my lineup a bit on the cheap if possible. I hope getting this guy http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id ... imps=stats in the draft will help my rotation and a 2nd round pick for King seems like a good deal specially since I think/hope he can be productive for a couple more years and he only cost me a 2nd round pick in a year that I have 2 #1s.

Re: Why i made the deal
I had him ranked #3 but my needs/desires are obviously different than some of the other teams and it was a pretty good draft. Also surprised that Takeuchi, who's killing it lasted to 6 (thought that St.Louis would have preferred to draft him and save himself some of the acquisition cost from this deal Trade #1570796 has been completed between the St. Louis Men In Laundry and the San Diego Padres. I had Miyake ranked above Takeuchi but only by 1 spot, they were #8 & #9 for me, were I not in full rebuild obviously both would have been higher, Nakamura was too old for me to consider so I dropped him to the #33 spot

Trade #1571382 has been completed between the Atlanta Silverbacks and the Texas Hamiltonians. The Texas Hamiltonians receive Don Leach, Ossie McCreery from the Atlanta Silverbacks in exchange for Jot Bernazard, Bruno Monahan, Del Cates, and Draft Pick - 2121 Round 1 (TEX).
So ... we're 27-3 to start the season. My pitching might be the best that I've had in this league ever. We are very, very old. Put it all together and it would have made sense to try to sell off a bit. However, no one (except maybe a couple of us) is willing to pay "fair" prices for veterans and the offers that I got for A overall players quite frankly were awful.
I reached out to Atlanta and a couple other teams that had quality hitters in that 31-33 year old range that could play quality defense for us and provide some length to our lineup.
Leach is an A overall SS with quality defense, and his high contact allows me to generate more runners on base in front of my all-star catcher Bohne and 2B Lovett at the top of the order.
McCreery slots in vs. RHP as a defensive upgrade at 3B and he brings A+ power in the 5th slot in the lineup to clear the bases after the big boys get on.
In exchange I give up:
Hopefully a playoff 1st rounder. 16th if everything breaks appropriately for us.
Bernazard, a veteran A+ mentor for roster balance.
Cates, a long-shot OF prospect with red letter power.
Monahan, whose best case is an A+/B+ split vs. RHP and he may not quite reach that ceiling.
I think that Monahan and the 1st rounder will likely provide more overall cumulative at-bats (or Innings pitched) than what I got in McCreery and Leach. But if we get a World Series ring this year it is well worth it. If by some miracle we win this year AND next, this will be a steal for us.

From Atlanta's perspective... we get a promising prospect that I like the splits with for Monahan. I think he will be a good top of the order hitter with high contact and speed and enough power to be dangerous. The 1st will hopefully turn into a solid performer but time will tell on that lottery ticket. Cates is iffy but I took a chance that he'll improve enough to be an adequate platoon player or bench bat. Bernazard is just a year or 2 of high mentorship with the kids in the lineup.
I hated giving up Leach... he's been one of my favorite code bits... from an unassuming mid 2nd round pick to A overall SS. He brings good defense, a .285+ BA, and 15-20 homers a year to the table. I wish him well in Texas and root for him to bring home a title that he couldn't get in Atlanta (and would likely have been too old with this rebuild here). Also McCreery goes to Texas but he had fallen out of favor in Atlanta, especially with the youth movement and was an end of the bench veteran that needed a change of scenery to see if he had anything left.

Trade #1572848 has been completed between the St. Louis Men In Laundry and the Philadelphia Bull Frogs. The Philadelphia Bull Frogs receive John Hodges, Bill Tillman, Shad McTamany-Hall, John Barry from the St. Louis Men In Laundry in exchange for Billy Clark, Ed Daubert.
Our trade Trilogy. The problem with a long rebuild is that your first set of prospects grows up before everyone else is ready. Ordinarily, I'd sell them for some more prospects/picks that fit the timeline better. Unfortunately, there isn't really anyone buying here. As per usual, I guess. Faced with the choice of wasting (more of) the prime years of my older set or advancing the timeline via trade, I decided to go with the latter. It may or may not work, as the NL is far more competitive than the AL, but I generally prefer to take a shot when it's possible. Or finding a way to take one anyway when it isn't. We're left with a roster that, other than Fernandez, should be competitive for several more years. It may be too late for this season, but we'll see.

Trade #1577446 has been completed between the Seattle Spurs and the Detroit Space Goats. The Detroit Space Goats receive Jackie Valentine, Ossie Melendez, Doc Nicholson, Bob Sadowski from the Seattle Spurs in exchange for Katsumi Oishi, Draft Pick - 2122 Round 1 (DET).
I wanted to move some of my prospects who I felt like would be good, but not elite players, or who played positions where I had a better young prospect. Detroit and I ended up being a good match, as I got an A overall OS31 pitcher, plus an early/mid first round pick. I am not sure if I will be competitive next season, but my thought in acquiring Oishi is that I may be able to make a run as my young players start to get major league ICs and TEX begins to rebuild. The first round pick is all about where it ends up in the lottery. If it's #1-3, I feel amazing about the trade; if its 8-10, then I am disappointed and probably would not have given up this much young talent for it. Time will tell!

Trade #1578270 has been completed between the Texas Hamiltonians and the Philadelphia Bull Frogs. The Philadelphia Bull Frogs receive Stanley Jobson, Fred Frank, Tom Wickander, and Draft Pick - 2122 Round 1 (TEX) from the Texas Hamiltonians in exchange for Bunky Hollins and Mark McElyea.
After offering to sell off and rebuild but not finding interested (or motivated?) buyers for stars like C Leach Bohne, and veterans like my whole rotation and most of my hitters, I went the other direction and began aggressively attempting to buy.
I have probably sent out a dozen offers this year which included Wickander and multiple firsts. I was primarily trying to address weaknesses in my lineup and, if possible, add some back of rotation pitching help. After being rebuffed multiple times by multiple teams, all of whom seem to want 3+ pieces when selling but will only pay 1 piece when buying (maybe 2 is the market?), I made one last ditch effort on deadline day to acquire an impact player.
I sent out offers to 4 different teams and noticed the Philly had McElyea listed and wanted 2 pieces for him. In my opinion, Wickander is a solid piece, and any 1st rounder counts. Hoping that KillerG would agree to that, I sent an opening offer with a few lesser prospects and more draft picks; I was hoping that some other team would accept Wickander in exchange for an impact bat. Philly countered and everyone else declined, which made Wickander very available, and we had a deal done.
Here's what I hope to get: McElyea is an impact front of rotation starter and if I'm lucky he can carry us through the postseason to a title this year, get us back to the playoffs the next year (or two) and then sell him for a compensatory 1st or 2 2nd rounders when (if) I ever rebuild.
I pray that Hollins can start at 1B for me vs. RHP this year in the playoffs. He made a huge impact in 3 games for us before going on the DL through the end of the regular season. In those 3 games (2 of which against Boston, our likely LCS opponent) Hollins was 6 for 10 with a homer, triple, double, 5 runs, 3 RBI and an OPS of 1.892. If he can do half that well over a 7 game playoff series he will be a huge upgrade over my other options vs. RHP at 1B.
What I gave up: Jobson and Frank are just there for roster balance. Non factors as they say.
Wickander can make or break this deal for both of us. If he tops out at A/B vs. RHP and never makes an all-star game, it will look like a steal for me. If he gets to A+/B+ or A/A- vs. RHP and gets up to competence vs. LHP, he could be one of the top backstops in the league in 3 seasons. He is mid to high across his grades and has a good improvement rate in both minors and majors, so I think Philly will be pleased.
The 1st rounder is hopefully a playoff pick. With variable development it will come down to luck.

Trade #1579361 has been completed between the Seattle Spurs and the Brooklyn Bushwicks. The Brooklyn Bushwicks receive John Klawitter, Ron Keenan, Draft Pick - 2122 Round 1 (DET) from the Seattle Spurs in exchange for Kazuyoshi Miyake, Doug Hartranft, Wayne Bowman. http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12695234
Starting my rebuild with this deal, soon to be followed by a deal for Buck Sims. I think that maybe I didn't get enough but honestly I'm kind of stuck in the middle and there's not that many people buying so I'm biting the bullet. Hopefully I can get something good with the Det pick.

Re: Why i made the deal
This was a good opportunity for me to add to a pitching staff that only has two (one?) homegrown strong pitchers. I normally don't add reverse split guys like Bowman, but that is all I could find. I wasn't eager to give up Klawitter, but his majors improvement rate isn't great and I have an offensively-talented team, so I can afford it. It is a homecoming for Hartranft, who comes back to Seattle to hopefully make a last playoff run before retirement. I am excited to have his glove back in the field, but his offense will still improve one of my weaker positions. I didn't like giving up the Detroit pick in this solid draft, but I have my own first rounder one pick earlier to soften the blow. We'll see if this works--hopefully Hammy rebuilds and sends assets to the NLBigMacAttack wrote: ↑Tue Oct 16, 2018 12:55 pm 3/25/2122
