Merger?

Post by historymann49 » Thu Jan 16, 2020 10:14 pm

I know we discussed a possible merger with the VBL a while back and the reactions were mixed. I'd like to ask you all again if you think we should pursue it. They have been paused since before Thanksgiving, as they have 8 unowned teams. Some of the owners are becoming quite frustrated - a feeling I can well understand as I was in a league a couple of years ago that was paused for nearly 5 months! - and more may be leaving. Meanwhile, we have 5 teams listed for sale, another that hasn't been active for nearly a month, and Mike is leaving. If you'd like, I can contact them to gauge their interest. Obviously, a merger can't happen until March when our current season ends, but we can get the ball rolling. Let me know what you think.

Sounds good to me, the more that are active, the better the league will be.

I agree. I guess we would need to revisit the differences between the leagues again. Thanks.

Totally in favour. I hate seeing “dead” teams and this is a good league with a lot of long-time owners that I would like to see continue.

The differences between our league's rules and those of the VBL are:

1. They use Minor League System 3;
2. They use Letters for player skill ratings;
3. Their draft pool appears later than ours (8/30 rather than 8/15);
4. They do not have the extra pause day after the draft.

What about CP trades? Also how many games per day?

They play 3 games per day. I'll check on the CP trades.

I must have been suffering from brain lock when I first responded to this post. As I stated earlier, they use Minor League System 3. There are no CPs!

I've only heard from 1 owner in the VBL, so it doesn't seem like there's a lot of interest there. I'll contact Admin and see if Chris wants to organize a vote of the two leagues.
